This guide covers setting up and configuring your Aloft dedicated server on Legion Hosting. Aloft is a co-op sandbox survival game set among floating islands where players build skyships, explore, and cure fungal corruption. For admin tools and server management, see our Aloft Admin Commands guide.
What is Aloft?
Aloft is a cooperative sandbox survival game developed by Astrolabe Interactive. Players soar through skies filled with floating islands, building skyships, gathering resources, and working to restore a corrupted ecosystem. The game supports up to 8 players in co-op multiplayer.
First Start
- Log in to GPanel at gpanel.legionhosting.net
- Select your Aloft server from the server list
- Review your Startup Variables — set your save name, server name, and player count before first launch
- Click Start to launch the server
- On first boot, the server will create the world with your configured number of islands — this may take a moment
- Once the console displays

GPanel Startup Variables
These startup variables control your Aloft server configuration directly from GPanel:

NUM_ISLANDS and CREATIVE_MODE settings only take effect when the world is first generated. Changing them after the world exists has no effect. To apply new values, you must delete the save and start fresh.
How to Connect
Via Server Browser
- Launch Aloft from Steam
- From the main menu, select Multiplayer
- Browse or search for your server by name in the lobby list
- Select the server and click Join
Via Direct Connect
- Launch Aloft from Steam
- Use your server's IP address and port from GPanel to connect directly
Save File Location
Aloft stores save data in the Wine prefix directory:
.wine/drive_c/users/container/AppData/LocalLow/Astrolabe Interactive/Aloft/Data01/Saves/
w_YourSaveName/ <-- World save folder
Resetting the World
- Stop the server in GPanel
- Open the File Manager
- Navigate to the save path above
- Delete the
w_YourSaveNamefolder - Adjust
NUM_ISLANDSorCREATIVE_MODEif desired - Start the server — a new world will be generated
