TerraTech Worlds Admin Commands

Dostupno na: ESPAÑOL

This guide covers admin setup, player management, world management, and troubleshooting for your TerraTech Worlds dedicated server on Legion Hosting. For initial server setup, world settings, and connection instructions, see TerraTech Worlds Server Setup Guide.

Server Panel: All server management is done through GPanel at gpanel.legionhosting.net. File management can be done through the Files tab or via SFTP. See How to Upload Files via SFTP for SFTP instructions.

Admin Setup

TerraTech Worlds dedicated servers use Steam IDs or a password-based system to manage administrator access. The server owner can designate admins who have elevated permissions for server management.

Configuring Admin Access

  1. Stop your server in GPanel.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab and locate the server configuration file.
  3. Add admin entries by specifying player Steam IDs in the admin list or setting an admin password.
  4. Save the file and restart the server.

Finding a Player's Steam ID

You can find a player's Steam64 ID by:

  • Visiting their Steam profile and using a Steam ID lookup tool (such as steamid.io).
  • Checking the server console output when the player connects — connection logs typically include Steam IDs.
Server owner: As the server owner, you automatically have admin privileges when accessing the server through the GPanel console. Console commands always execute with full server permissions.

Admin Commands

Admin commands can be executed through the GPanel server console or by in-game admins via chat commands. The following table lists commonly used admin commands:

Command Description
kick <player> Kicks a player from the server. They can reconnect immediately.
ban <player> Bans a player from the server. Persists across restarts.
unban <player> Removes a player's ban.
players / list Lists all currently connected players with their IDs.
save Forces an immediate world save.
say <message> Sends a server-wide announcement message.
shutdown Gracefully shuts down the server, saving the world first.
help Lists all available server commands.
Command availability: The exact commands available may vary depending on the TerraTech Worlds server version. Use the help command in the console to see all currently supported commands.

Player Management

Kicking and Banning

Use the kick and ban commands to manage disruptive players:

  • Kick: Immediately disconnects the player. They can rejoin unless also banned.
  • Ban: Disconnects the player and prevents them from reconnecting. Bans persist across server restarts.
  • Unban: Use the unban command with the player's name or ID to remove the ban.

Managing the Ban List

Banned players are stored in a ban list file in the server directory. You can manually edit this file through GPanel's Files tab to add or remove entries:

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Open the ban list file in the Files tab.
  3. Add or remove Steam IDs as needed.
  4. Save and restart the server.

Whitelist (Optional)

If you want to restrict your server to specific players only, you can use a whitelist. When enabled, only players whose Steam IDs are in the whitelist can join the server. Check the server configuration file for whitelist settings.

World Management

Saving the World

The server automatically saves the world at regular intervals and on graceful shutdown. You can also force a manual save:

  • Use the save command in the GPanel console to trigger an immediate save.
  • Always stop the server gracefully (via the Stop button in GPanel) to ensure the world is saved before shutdown.
Avoid force-stopping: Using the Kill button or force-stopping the server may result in unsaved progress being lost. Always use the normal Stop button for a graceful shutdown.

Backing Up the World

Regular backups protect against data loss from corruption, accidental deletion, or unwanted changes:

  1. Stop the server to ensure a consistent save state.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab and locate the world save directory.
  3. Download the entire save folder via the Files tab or SFTP.
  4. Store the backup locally. Consider labeling backups with dates for easy identification.

Restoring a Backup

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Upload your backup save files to the correct directory, replacing existing files.
  3. Start the server. The restored world will load.

Resetting the World

To start fresh with a new world:

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Back up the existing world save if you want to keep it.
  3. Delete the world save folder.
  4. Optionally change the WORLD_SEED in the Startup tab for a different world layout.
  5. Start the server. A new world will be generated.
World deletion is permanent. Always create a backup before deleting your world save. Once deleted, all player progress, builds, and world modifications are lost.

World Growth Over Time

As players explore and modify the world, the save file grows in size. This is normal behavior:

  • Explored chunks are saved to disk, increasing storage usage.
  • Player structures and Techs add to the world data.
  • Monitor disk usage in GPanel. If you approach your storage limit, consider cleaning up unused areas or opening a support ticket to discuss options.

Troubleshooting

Server Not Starting

  • Check the GPanel console for error messages during startup.
  • Verify that server files are not corrupted. A reinstall from the Startup tab can fix missing or damaged files.
  • Ensure no configuration errors exist — a malformed config file can prevent the server from starting.
  • If the server was working previously and now fails to start, try restoring a backup of the world save in case the save file is corrupted.

Players Cannot Connect

  • Confirm the server is fully started and online in GPanel.
  • If password-protected, verify players are entering the correct password.
  • Ensure the game version matches — server and client must be on the same version. Update the server after game patches.
  • Have players try direct connect using the IP and port. See How to Find Your Server IP and Port.
  • Check if the player is banned (either intentionally or accidentally).

Performance Issues

  • Check GPanel resource graphs for CPU and RAM usage.
  • Reduce the max player count if the server is consistently under heavy load.
  • Large, complex Techs built by players increase the simulation workload. Encourage players to keep Tech sizes reasonable on busy servers.
  • A very large world with extensive exploration history uses more memory. Consider starting a new world periodically if performance degrades significantly over time.
  • If resource usage is consistently at the limit, consider upgrading your server plan. Open a support ticket to discuss options.

World Save Corruption

  • If the server fails to load the world after a crash, the save may be corrupted.
  • Restore from a recent backup (see Restoring a Backup above).
  • If no backup is available, you may need to delete the save and start a new world.
  • To prevent corruption, always stop the server gracefully and consider scheduling regular backups.

Version Mismatch After Updates

  • When TerraTech Worlds receives an update, the server and all players must be on the same version.
  • Stop the server and trigger an update/reinstall from the Startup tab to pull the latest server files.
  • Players should update their game through Steam before reconnecting.
  • Check the GPanel console on startup to verify the server version.
