This guide covers setting up and configuring your America's Army: Proving Grounds dedicated server on Legion Hosting. What is America's Army: Proving Grounds?

America's Army: Proving Grounds is the official game of the U.S. Army and part of the acclaimed America's Army series. This free military shooter focuses on small unit tactical maneuvers with a variety of maps and game modes including the classic Search and Destroy. The game emphasizes teamwork, communication, and realistic military tactics.

First Start

  1. Log in to GPanel at gpanel.legionhosting.net
  2. Select your America's Army server from the server list
  3. Review your Startup Variables and set your server name
  4. Click Start to launch the server
  5. Once the console displays Finished loading level, the server is ready for players
Ports: Ports are randomly assigned unless you have a private IP. Your server uses a game port, a Steam query port, and an authentication port. All assigned ports are shown in GPanel on your server's main page.

How to Connect

Via Server Browser

  1. Launch America's Army: Proving Grounds from Steam
  2. From the main menu, select Deploy → Custom Server Browser
  3. Search for your server by name
  4. Select the server and click Join

Via Direct Connect

  1. Open the Steam client
  2. Go to View → Game Servers
  3. Click Favorites, then Add a Server
  4. Enter your server's IP and port from GPanel (e.g., 192.168.1.100:7777)
  5. Connect from the Favorites list

Server Configuration

America's Army: Proving Grounds uses Unreal Engine configuration files. Key config files can be edited via GPanel's File Manager:

AAGame/Config/
  DefaultGame.ini        <-- Game rules and mode settings
  DefaultEngine.ini      <-- Engine and network settings
Note: Configuration changes require a server restart to take effect. Always back up config files before making changes.
