Space Engineers Mod Installation

Доступно мовами: ESPAÑOL PORTUGUÊS (BRASIL)

This guide covers how to install, configure, and remove Steam Workshop mods on your Space Engineers dedicated server hosted with Legion Hosting. For initial server setup and configuration, see Space Engineers Server Setup. For common issues, see Space Engineers Troubleshooting.

Server Panel: All server management is done through GPanel at gpanel.legionhosting.net. Use the File Manager or SFTP to edit configuration files.

Mod Installation Overview

Space Engineers supports Steam Workshop mods on dedicated servers. Mods are added by their Workshop ID in the Sandbox.sbc configuration file inside your world's save folder.

Finding Mod IDs

  1. Browse the Space Engineers Steam Workshop.
  2. Open the mod page you want to install.
  3. Copy the Workshop ID from the URL. For example, in https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=123456789, the ID is 123456789.

Adding Mods to the Server

  1. Stop your server from the Console tab.
  2. Open the Files tab and navigate to your world save folder.
  3. Open Sandbox.sbc in the file editor.
  4. Find the <Mods> block. If it does not exist, create it inside the <SessionSettings> section.
  5. Add a <ModItem> entry for each mod you want to install:
    <Mods>
      <ModItem FriendlyName="Mod Name Here">
        <Name>123456789.sbm</Name>
        <PublishedFileId>123456789</PublishedFileId>
        <PublishedServiceName>Steam</PublishedServiceName>
      </ModItem>
      <ModItem FriendlyName="Another Mod">
        <Name>987654321.sbm</Name>
        <PublishedFileId>987654321</PublishedFileId>
        <PublishedServiceName>Steam</PublishedServiceName>
      </ModItem>
    </Mods>
  6. Save the file and start the server. The server will automatically download the mods from the Workshop on startup.
Mod download time: Large mods may take several minutes to download on the first server start after adding them. The console will show download progress. The server will not accept connections until all mods are loaded.

Enabling Experimental Mode

Some mods require Experimental Mode to be enabled. Without it, the server may refuse to load certain mods or features. To enable it:

  1. Open Sandbox.sbc in the file editor.
  2. Find the <ExperimentalMode> setting within <Settings> or <SessionSettings>.
  3. Set it to true:
    <ExperimentalMode>true</ExperimentalMode>
  4. Save the file and restart the server.
Experimental Mode disclaimer: Enabling experimental mode unlocks features that may be unstable. Most modded servers run with experimental mode enabled as many popular mods require it.

Removing Mods

To remove a mod, delete its <ModItem> entry from the <Mods> block in Sandbox.sbc, save the file, and restart the server. Note that removing a mod that adds blocks will cause those blocks to disappear from the world.

Back up before removing mods. Removing mods that add blocks or components can cause world errors or missing entities. Always create a backup of your world save before removing mods. See the save management section in the Space Engineers Server Setup guide.
