This guide covers setting up and configuring your BATTALION: Legacy dedicated server on Legion Hosting. BATTALION: Legacy is a classic-style first person shooter that recaptures the feel of old-school competitive FPS games with bolt-action rifles and 5v5 Search and Destroy gameplay. What is BATTALION: Legacy?

BATTALION: Legacy is the final iteration of Battalion 1944, a competitive FPS that returns to the simplicity of classic shooters. The game features game modes including Wartide (5v5 competitive), Search and Destroy, and Rifles Only mode. Built on Unreal Engine, it delivers fast-paced tactical gameplay inspired by classic WWII shooters.

First Start

  1. Log in to GPanel at gpanel.legionhosting.net
  2. Select your BATTALION: Legacy server from the server list
  3. Review your Startup Variables — set your server name and admin password
  4. Click Start to launch the server
  5. Once the console displays OnCreateSessionComplete, the server is ready for players
Ports: Ports are randomly assigned unless you have a private IP. Your server uses a game port and a query port. All assigned ports are shown in GPanel on your server's main page.

GPanel Startup Variables

SERVER_NAME Name displayed in the server browser (max 60 characters) Pterodactyl hosted Server
ADMIN_PW Admin password for server administration (max 20 characters) changeme

AUTO_UPDATE Auto-update server on restart (1 = enabled) 1
Important: Change the default admin password (changeme) immediately! Anyone who knows the admin password can take control of your server.

How to Connect

Via Server Browser

  1. Launch BATTALION: Legacy from Steam
  2. From the main menu, select Play → Server Browser
  3. Search for your server by name
  4. Select the server and click Join

Via Steam Console

  1. Open the Steam client
  2. Go to View → Game Servers
  3. Click Favorites, then Add a Server
  4. Enter your server's IP and port from GPanel
  5. Connect from the Favorites list
Finding Your Server IP: Your server's IP and port are shown on GPanel's main page. For details, see our How to Find Your Server IP and Port guide.

Game Mode: Wartide

The default game mode is Wartide, BATTALION's signature 5v5 competitive mode. In Wartide, teams take turns attacking and defending objectives with a card-based economy system for weapon selection.
