This guide covers how to set up and configure your Clone Hero dedicated server hosted with Legion Hosting. Clone Hero is a rhythm game where players jam out with guitar controllers, drums, or keyboards. For server management and settings, see Clone Hero Server Admin Guide.
1. Accessing Your Server
- Log in to GPanel.
- Select your Clone Hero server from the server list.
- Your server IP and port are displayed on the Console tab. See How to Find Your Server IP and Port for details.
2. Startup Variables
Configure these settings from the Startup tab in GPanel:

3. Configuration File
Clone Hero uses a settings.ini file in the server root directory for additional configuration. Edit it via the Files tab in GPanel or via SFTP.
settings.ini as they will be overridden.
4. Connecting to Your Server
- Launch Clone Hero on your PC.
- Go to Online > Browse Servers or Direct Connect.
- Enter your server IP and port from GPanel.
- Enter the server password if one is set.
- Choose your instrument and join the lobby.
5. Adding Songs
The server needs song charts for players to play. To add songs:
- Download song charts in Clone Hero format (
.chartor.midfiles with audio). - Upload them to the server's songs directory via SFTP. See How to Upload Files via SFTP.
- Each song should be in its own subfolder containing the chart file, audio file, and optional album art.
- Restart the server to load new songs.
6. First-Time Setup Checklist
- Set a
SERVER_DISPLAY_NAMEin the Startup tab. - Optionally set a
SERVER_PASSWORDfor private sessions. - Upload song charts to the server.
- Start the server and connect to verify everything works.
