Vintage Story Admin Commands

This guide covers how to set up server administration and use admin commands on your Vintage Story dedicated server, including the permission group system and useful commands for managing players. For initial server setup and configuration, see Vintage Story Server Setup Guide. For mod installation, see Vintage Story Mod Installation.

Server Panel: All server management is done through GPanel at gpanel.legionhosting.net.

Adding an Admin Player

Server administration in Vintage Story is handled through in-game commands and permission groups. You do not need to edit configuration files to set up basic admin access.

  1. Start the server and connect with the account you want to make admin.
  2. In the GPanel Console tab, type the following command: 
    /op PlayerName
    Replace PlayerName with the exact in-game name of the player you want to promote.
  3. The player will now have full admin privileges, including access to all server commands.

Permission Groups

Vintage Story uses a role-based permission system. The default groups are:

Group Description
suplayer Default group for all players. Basic gameplay permissions.
admin Full server administration rights. Can manage players, change settings, and use all commands.

Useful Admin Commands

All commands are entered in the in-game chat (press T) or via the GPanel console. Prefix commands with / in-game.

Command Description
/op PlayerName Grant admin privileges to a player.
/deop PlayerName Remove admin privileges from a player.
/ban PlayerName Ban a player from the server.
/unban PlayerName Unban a previously banned player.
/kick PlayerName Kick a player from the server without banning them.
/whitelist PlayerName Add a player to the server whitelist (if whitelist mode is enabled).
/time set day Set the in-game time to daytime.
/tp PlayerName Teleport to another player's location.
/giveblock BlockCode Give yourself a block by its code.
/gamemode creative Switch to creative mode (admin only).
Console vs in-game: Commands entered in the GPanel console do not require the / prefix. Commands entered in the in-game chat window do require it.
