Satisfactory Dedicated Server Setup Guide

Dostupné v: ESPAÑOL

This guide covers how to set up your Satisfactory dedicated server, claim it with an admin password, manage session settings, work with save files, and connect to your server in-game.

Before you begin: Make sure your server is started in GPanel. If you need help finding your server's IP address and ports, see How to Find Your Server IP and Port.

Server Ports

Your Satisfactory server uses two ports — a primary game port (UDP + TCP) for game traffic, Server Manager API, and client connections, and a secondary port (TCP) for reliable messaging (required for Satisfactory v1.1+). Both must be reachable from your client for the server to function correctly.

Your assigned ports are shown in GPanel's Network tab. See How to Find Your Server IP and Port for details.

On shared hosting, ports are randomly assigned — you cannot choose specific port numbers. If you need your server to run on specific ports, you can purchase a server with a private IP address.

First-Time Setup

When your Satisfactory server starts for the first time it does not load a world automatically. Instead, it waits for you to claim it and create or load a save through the Server Manager interface. No game files are written until you complete the claim step.

Step 1 — Access the Server Manager

Satisfactory includes a built-in web management API. You can reach it through the in-game Server Manager or through the browser-based interface at:

https://<your-server-ip>:7777
Note: The web interface uses a self-signed certificate. Your browser will show a security warning — this is expected. Accept the exception to proceed.

Step 2 — Claim the Server (Admin Password)

The first time you open the Server Manager you will be prompted to claim the server. This sets the admin password that controls access to server management features.

  1. Open the Server Manager (in-game or browser).
  2. Enter a strong Admin Password and click Claim Server.
  3. You will be logged in as the server administrator. Store this password — you will need it any time you manage the server from the Server Manager.
Important: Anyone who knows your server IP and admin password can fully manage your server, including deleting saves. Use a strong, unique password.

Step 3 — Create or Load a World

After claiming, the Server Manager will prompt you to either create a new game or load an existing save.

  • New game: Choose a starting location (Grass Fields, Rocky Desert, Northern Forest, Dune Desert) and click Create Game. The server will generate a new world and load it.
  • Load save: If you have an existing save file, upload it first (see the Save Management section below), then select it from the list.

Session Settings

Session settings control how your server appears and who can join. Access them from the Server Manager under Server Settings.

Setting Description
Session Name The name shown in the in-game server browser. Set something recognizable so you and your friends can find the server easily.
Server Password Optional password players must enter to join. Leave blank for a public server.
Player Limit Maximum number of players allowed at once. The default is 4. Increase or decrease as needed for your plan's resources.
Auto-Save Interval How often the server saves automatically (in minutes). Lower values reduce potential rollback on crash; higher values reduce I/O.

Changes take effect immediately — no restart is required for session name and player limit changes.

Save File Management

Save File Location

Satisfactory save files are stored on the server at:

.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/

Files have the extension .sav. The server writes auto-saves here automatically during gameplay.

Downloading a Save (Backup)

To download a save file for backup or to transfer it:

  1. Connect to your server via SFTP. See How to Upload Files via SFTP for connection instructions.
  2. Navigate to .config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/.
  3. Download the .sav file you want to keep.
You can also download saves directly from the Server Manager under Manage Saves if you prefer a browser-based download.

Uploading a Save (Restore or Transfer)

  1. Connect to your server via SFTP.
  2. Navigate to .config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/.
  3. Upload your .sav file into this directory.
  4. In the Server Manager, go to Manage Saves and select the uploaded file to load it.
Tip: Stop the server before uploading a save to avoid file conflicts. Restart after the upload is complete.

How to Connect

Option A — In-Game Server Manager (Recommended)

  1. Launch Satisfactory and click Play on the main menu.
  2. Select Server Manager at the bottom of the session list.
  3. Click Add Server and enter your server IP and port:
    <your-server-ip>:7777
  4. The server will appear in your list. Click it, enter the server password (if set), and click Join Game.

Option B — Direct Connect

  1. From the main menu, click Play.
  2. Select Join Game and click the Direct Connect tab.
  3. Enter your server IP and game port:
    <your-server-ip>:7777
  4. Click Connect. Enter the server password if prompted.

Common Issues

Server Not Appearing in the Browser

  • Confirm the server is running in GPanel. The server must be fully started before it can accept connections or appear in the browser.
  • The server browser can take several minutes to list a newly started server. Use Direct Connect or the Server Manager to connect immediately while you wait.
  • If you are connecting for the first time after claiming, make sure a world has been created or loaded — the server will not accept connections until a session is active.
  • Check that both your assigned ports (shown in GPanel's Network tab) are not blocked by a local firewall on your client machine. Both ports are required for the server to function correctly in v1.1+.

Players Cannot Connect

  • Verify that both assigned ports (shown in GPanel's Network tab) are open and reachable. The secondary port handles reliable messaging and is required for Satisfactory v1.1+; connections will fail or drop if it is blocked.
  • Make sure the server has been claimed and a world has been created or loaded. An unclaimed server or a server with no active session will refuse all player connections.
  • If you set a server password, confirm players are entering it correctly. Passwords are case-sensitive.
  • Check GPanel to confirm the server is online and not in a crash loop. If the server is crashing on startup, review the console log for error messages.

High Memory Usage with Large Factories

  • Satisfactory is memory-intensive. Large factories with many machines, belts, and power lines significantly increase RAM usage. This is normal behavior.
  • If the server is running out of memory and crashing, consider upgrading your plan to one with more RAM. A mid-to-late-game factory can easily require 6–8 GB or more.
  • Reducing the number of active machines or splitting production into smaller, more efficient setups can help lower the memory footprint.
  • Avoid keeping very large numbers of unsorted items in storage containers scattered across the map, as these are tracked server-side at all times.

Unable to Claim or Log In to the Server Manager

  • If you have forgotten your admin password, you can reset it by editing the server configuration file. Stop the server, then open FactoryGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini via SFTP and remove or reset the AdminPassword entry. Restart the server and reclaim it.
  • Make sure you are connecting to port 7777 when accessing the web interface or adding the server in the in-game Server Manager.

Need Help?

If you continue to experience issues with your Satisfactory server, open a support ticket and include your server IP, a description of the problem, and any relevant logs from GPanel.
