Server Management via GPanel
Aska's dedicated server is managed primarily through GPanel's startup variables and the server properties.txt configuration file.

World Persistence
The KEEP_SERVER_WORLD_ALIVE setting is important for how your NPCs and world behave:
true— NPC villagers continue working, eating, and defending even when no players are online. Your settlement progresses around the clock. Uses more server resources.false(default) — The world pauses when no players are connected. NPCs freeze in place. Uses fewer resources when empty.
Tip: If your NPCs seem idle or your settlement does not progress while you are offline, make sure
KEEP_SERVER_WORLD_ALIVE is set to true.
GSLT Token Management
Your Game Server Login Token (GSLT) is required for the server to authenticate with Steam. If your token expires or is revoked:
- Visit steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers
- Create a new token using App ID
1898300 - Update the
STEAM_GSLTvariable in GPanel - Restart the server
Warning: Do not share your GSLT token with anyone. If compromised, revoke it immediately from the Steam management page and generate a new one.
Save Management
Backup
- Use GPanel's built-in backup feature to create snapshots
- Download save files via SFTP for local backups
- Always back up before game updates or major changes
Resetting the World
- Stop the server in GPanel
- Open the File Manager
- Locate and delete the save data folder
- Start the server — a new world will be generated
Warning: Deleting save data is permanent. All settlement progress, NPC assignments, and player builds will be lost.
Troubleshooting
Server Not Appearing in Session List
- Verify your
STEAM_GSLTtoken is valid and correctly entered - Check that
SERVER_REGIONmatches the region players are searching in - Ensure the server has fully booted (look for the boot state message in console)
- Try setting the region to
defaultfor auto-selection
Server Fails to Start
- Missing GSLT — The server requires a valid GSLT token. Generate one at Steam's management page using App ID
1898300. - Token expired — GSLT tokens can expire. Generate a new one and update the startup variable.
- Server files corrupted — Try reinstalling via GPanel's reinstall option.
