This guide covers admin setup and server management for your Swords 'n Magic and Stuff dedicated server on Legion Hosting. For initial setup and configuration, see our Swords 'n Magic Server Setup Guide.
Admin Setup
The server owner is designated by the SNM_OWNER_STEAM_ID startup variable in GPanel. This Steam ID receives admin privileges on the server.
Setting the Admin
- Log in to GPanel
- Select your Swords 'n Magic and Stuff server
- Go to the Startup tab
- Enter your Steam ID in the
SNM_OWNER_STEAM_IDfield - Restart the server to apply changes
Server Management via GPanel

Password Protection
To make your server private:
- Go to the Startup tab in GPanel
- Set a value for
SNM_PASSWORD - Restart the server
To remove the password, clear the SNM_PASSWORD field and restart.
Server Reset Schedule
The server supports automatic periodic world resets. Configure these settings in the Startup tab:
SNM_DAYS_UNTIL_RESET— Number of days between resets (default: 1)SNM_RESET_TIME_OF_DAY— Time of day in 24-hour format (default: 00:00)
SNM_DAYS_UNTIL_RESET to a higher value if you want longer persistence.
Configuration File
Advanced settings can be edited in the Game.ini file:
SNM2020/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Game.ini
Edit this file via GPanel's File Manager or via SFTP. Always stop the server before making changes and restart afterward.
Backup and Restore
- Use GPanel's built-in backup feature to create snapshots
- Download save files via SFTP for local backups
- Save data is located at:
SNM2020/Saved/ - Always back up before game updates or configuration changes
Troubleshooting
Server Not Appearing in Browser
- Ensure the server has fully started (look for
Succeeded to create Steam session with IDin console) - Verify
SNM_NAMEfollows the naming rules (2–5 unique words from the approved list) - Wait a few minutes for the Steam master server to update
Invalid Server Name
The server name must consist of 2 to 5 unique words from the approved word list. Check SNM2020/Saved/Logs/Allowed-Words.txt for valid options. Words are case insensitive and duplicates are not allowed.
